The Head of Policy with the RACV says they’ve identified 52 dangerous highway sections in regional Victoria, many of them in the Ballarat region.
The My Country Roads survey was launched this week with locals being asked to provide feedback on a set list of dodgy roads or nominate their own area of concern.
In Western Victoria roads to make the list include the Midland Highway from Ballarat to Geelong, Midland Highway from Ballarat to Daylesford and Western Highway from Ballarat to Trawalla.
James Williams says 8% of the state’s roads should be completely replaced every year but at this point in time we are nowhere near that.
“Well, we are doing about 1 to 2%,”.
“That billion dollars that the government announces every year goes to a whole raft of measures including cutting the lawn, improving signage and lighting as well as sealing potholes,” Mr Williams said.
