The City of Ballarat is unable to give a timeline as to when a unique part of the Bridge Mall will be re-opened.

Back in March the glass was shattered in the portal on a bridge overlooking the Yarrowee Creek which runs discreetly underneath it.

Wooden seating around the portal is currently fenced off for safety reasons.

“The City of Ballarat is currently waiting for a quote from a local glass supplier for the repairs,” said Bridget Wetherall, Director Infrastructure and Environment.

“It is not yet known how long it will take for repairs to be completed, but it is expected to be several weeks.”

“We strongly condemn vandalism of any kind as it is both costly and detracts from Ballarat as a city,” she said.

The vandalism was caught by CCTV cameras with police alerted.
