The winter football season is heating up, and it turns out the biggest transfer market window of the year did not happen in Europe. It happened at the Golden Arches. McDonald’s Australia has officially unveiled its blockbuster partnership for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 26™, combining heavy-hitting global football icons with an equally iconic purple mascot.
Starting Wednesday 10 June, fast-food menus across Australia are getting a major tournament upgrade. Whether you are planning on waking up at 3:00 AM for a live match broadcast or simply love a good piece of nostalgia, the limited-edition range is designed to bring a bit of stadium atmosphere directly to the drive-thru.
A Legendary Cup Collection
The centerpiece is the FIFA World Cup 26™ Meal. Customers can opt for a classic Big Mac or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, paired with Fries, a drink, and gold-packaged Big Mac Sauce. However, the real prize requires upgrading to a large meal. Doing so unlocks one of six free collectible cups.

The lineup featured on the merchandise is formidable. You can land yourself a design featuring England icon David Beckham, Brazilian magician Ronaldinho Gaucho, or French striking legend Thierry Henry. Current global superstars Heung-Min Son and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal also feature. Rounding out the six-pack is none other than Grimace, who according to Yamal, “has got flow.” It is a bizarre but brilliant roster that is highly likely to spark a trading frenzy on local marketplace apps.
Something for the Kids (and the Sweet Tooth)
For the younger fans, or the dedicated pop-culture collectors, the FIFA World Cup 26™ Happy Meal is introducing a set of 15 collectible Squishmallows plush toys. Each plush comes dressed in a miniature, World Cup-inspired football jersey. The packaging also includes a scannable code unlocking an exclusive digital game, allowing kids to test their skills virtually.
No major promotional menu launch is complete without a dessert, and this one leans heavily into local tastes. The Goal-den McFlurry features standard vanilla soft serve mixed with rich caramel sauce and topped with crunchy Caramilk pieces. It is the sort of comforting treat that will either help you celebrate a spectacular victory or gently cushion the blow of a devastating penalty shoot-out loss.

Beyond the Counter
The campaign stretches well into the digital space via the MyMacca’s app. In a nod to traditional tournament culture, McDonald’s has partnered with Panini and Coca-Cola to offer digital stickers of every qualified player. Fans can complete a virtual album directly on their phones. Furthermore, users can earn points to spend on the new official mobile arcade game, FIFA Rivals.
In a rather heartwarming addition to the global campaign, three standout Australian McDonald’s crew members are getting a call-up of their own. Recognised for top performance behind the counter, these local employees are trading their kitchen shifts for an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to watch the FIFA World Cup 26™ finals live.
The entire tournament lineup kicks off nationally on Wednesday 10 June. Given the collective star power involved, you can expect long lines at the drive-thru and plenty of people desperately trying to complete their cup collections before full-time.
