Clunes Book Town organisers have scrapped the festivals controversial ‘no dogs’ policy.

Dogs were initially banned at last year’s festival causing many people who’d arrived with their ‘fur babies’ to turn around and go back home.

It also created a lot of angst for volunteers who had to police the rule.

Creative Clunes CEO Sue Beal says dogs will be allowed this year, but they’ll have to be on their best behaviour.

“People were getting really upset and upsetting a lot of our volunteers on the gates last year, so we made the decision that we’d let them in.”

“However, they’d have to be with the owner, on a short leash and if there’s any difficulties they had to be removed from the sight,” Ms. Beal said.

The dog friendly Clunes Book Town runs in the earlier time-slot this year of March 25 & 26.
