Summer tourism in Ballarat not all doom and gloom – says BRT Chief

Despite reports in some sections of the media this week that Ballarat’s tourism operators are having a poor summer, Ballarat Regional Tourism (BRT) says that’s not the case for everyone.

BRT Chief Executive Sarah Myers says some of Ballarat’s key attractions are doing very well.

“We acknowledge that it is a difficult time for business, we had COVID then we had ongoing workforce shortages and the rising cost of business and now cost of living pressures are starting to affect demand.”

“Despite this, there are absolutely some rays of hope out there,” Ms. Myers said.

Two of Ballarat’s major attractions, Sovereign Hill and the Ballarat Wildlife Park, have both recently told Radio Ballarat that visitation across summer has bounced back to pre-pandemic levels even with few international visitors.
