New technology and Ballarat’s unique history are about to collide through innovative digital walking tours of our new cemetery.
They’re being created as we speak by Federation University history students and should go live by the end of the year.
Associate Professor in History at the University, David Waldron, says they’ve uncovered some amazing stories.

“So [many] stories are attached to cemeteries, and of course you think cemeteries represent people’s whole lives and the lives of communities,” he said.
“Back in the old days, people would go to the cemeteries as places to have picnics and so on around your loved ones and your relatives and tell their story.”
