Sovereign Hill strike action delayed

Strike action at Sovereign Hill has been put off until after the long weekend.

Radio Ballarat understands the stop-work has been delayed amid concerns over the impact to the tourist attraction during one of its busiest weekends of the year, unionised workers have agreed to delay any strike until next week.

Earlier this week, over 82 per cent of union members voted to strike for up to 24 hours, unless their demands, including a higher pay rise, were agreed to by the sites management.

Following the vote, Nikau Irvine from the MEAA called on Sovereign Hill management to withdraw their current pay offer and sit down with union members to reach an agreement.
