Up-and-coming Greater Western Victoria Rebels player Sam Lalor has been selected as the first overall pick for Richmond in yesterday’s AFL Draft.
The 18-year-old was chosen for his strong abilities in the midfield and forward, averaging 23 disposals, 5.8 marks and six inside 50’s a game for the Rebels.
In a statement, Victorian Recruiting Manager for the club, Rhy Gieschen, said that Lalor stood out with his class and power on the field.
Redan and Rebels tall forward Jonty Faull was selected as the Tiger’s fourteenth pick, whilst another dynamic forward for the Rebels, Oliver Hannaford, was pick 18 for the GWS Giants.
