Work has begun on a new Early Parenting Centre in Ballarat.

The new centre at 10 Fawcett Rd in Lucas will provide support and advice for parents around feeding, settling and sleeping, and overnight stays for those who may be struggling with new parenting.

Available to families with children up to four-years-of-age, there’ll be 10 residential family units and four day-stay places, giving access to both short-term and longer residential stay programs.

Minister for Health Mary Anne Thomas, talking from the site of the new build, says the centre will be open to anyone who is finding those early months tough.

“Early parenting centres work to provide support that is completely non-judgemental. We work with families in all shapes and sizes to ensure we’re led by the parents and their goals.”

Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison highlights the benefit of having the care just 7 kilometres from the Ballarat CBD.

“Sleep, settling and feeding can be huge challenges for new parents. The Ballarat Early Parenting Centre will provide families with advice and social support when they need it most, locally.”

Construction is expected to be completed in late 2023.
