A new trial aiming to prevent gambling harm will kick off at select Ballarat venues from September.
People using gaming machines will need to use a YourPlay card and set loss limits, helping provide locals with more insight into how much they spend gambling.
Cards can be obtained on-the-spot in venues.

Venues and staff will be supported through training and communication materials during the trial period.
State Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle, says she’s pleased the reform is being trialed in Ballarat.
“I think it’s pretty clear from the data that there’s a lot of money put through pokie machines in Ballarat and that’s why I’m so pleased we’re having this trial,” she said.
The trial will run until November.
