With one month to go before the Heritage Victoria permit expires for Ballarat’s smashed rail gates, a Western Victorian MP has called for a report to be made public.
A V/Line Velocity train smashed through the gates in May 2020 at close to 100 kph after experiencing break issues.
Bev McArthur says the report should have been lodged in January.
“That’s the timeframe set down by Heritage Victoria,” Mrs McArthur said.
“However, it’s not known if the State Government has even provided that options paper. No one has heard a thing.”
“If it has, it needs to ‘demonstrate’ that ‘community consultation’ was part of the preparation of that document,” she said.
$10.5 million has been spent on temporary boom gates whilst a heritage solution is sought.
