Labour target Ballarat’s growing Indian community

The vote of Ballarat’s 6000 strong Indian population is in the spotlight today with a funding announcement from the ALP.

If re-elected they’ll invest $900,000 to build a new temple and cultural centre in Ross Creek.

Ripon candidate Martha Haylett says the cash will deliver both stages one and two of the project.
 
“$900,000 is even more than they wanted; it will deliver them stage one and two.”

“They were so happy, there were tears and Deputy Premier Jacinta Allan joined us as well for the good news,” Ms Haylett said.
 
The funding is part of a $10 million promise to upgrade Indian community infrastructure state-wide.
