It’s official, Ballarat’s rates are up there, but it could be worse

New data released by Ratepayers Victoria has revealed the average cost of rates around the state, and despite what you might think Ballarat is not the most expensive.

That title goes to Melbourne, with the average cost to get your bins emptied amongst other things, sitting at $2446.

Ballarat came in at $1869 that’s more expensive than both Bendigo ($1793) & Geelong ($1639) although not as bad as Ararat on $2060.

Loddon Shire was the cheapest at $1244.
