Ballarat’s Mayor says investment interest in the city is thriving on the back of a major development announcement today.
Planning applications have just been tabled by a Melbourne-based company for a new CBD mecca at the corner of Mair and Lydiard Street North, with plans to create a 5-storey office space, and 7-storey residential block comprising a 100-room hotel.
Cr. Des Hudson says it’s the latest proposal that shows Ballarat has become very attractive to investors.
“These are not small projects, they’re going to bring jobs, they’re going to be great for the economy especially in terms of further accommodation and bed-nights.”
“We saw recently that Norwich Plaza has been sold and there’s interest down there, all of these investments add up to say, you know what, Ballarat is a pretty good place to come and do business,” Mayor Hudson said.
The development application has been submitted by consultancy firm Urbis on behalf of Nigro Group.
