Which portfolios freshly elected Ballarat MP Catherine King hangs onto remains up in the air.
She had been Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government in the last Albanese government.
Ms. King says discussions about her ongoing responsibilities in Canberra start now.
“I’ll certainly put my hand up for the Ministry.”
“There’s a few processes internally where our caucus decides who they’d like to put forward for the ministry, I’ll put my hand up for that and then that will be up to the Prime Minister to allocate portfolios.”
“We haven’t had the declaration of the polls yet obviously,” Ms. King said.
On a two-party preferred count, Catherine received 60.5% of the vote, to the Liberal’s PAULA DORAN on 39.5%.
Ms. DORAN received an almost 2.5% swing towards her in the seat.
