Ballarat has been selected as the only spot in Victoria to trial new digital drivers licenses.
The new tech will give motorists the choice to store a secure digital version in the Service Victoria app.
Oddly announcing the initiative in Melbourne this morning and not Ballarat, Minister for Roads Melissa Horne says there’ll be security measures in place.
“We’ve obviously taken into account being able to have a whole heap of protections in place for people’s privacy.”
“There will be a QR Code people can scan but also a moving hologram,” Minister Horne said.
You’ll be able to sign up for the trial from next month at Vic Roads in Gov Hub with a statewide roll-out planned for 2024.
