Fed Uni staff walk off the job demanding fairer bargaining

Members of the National Tertiary Education Union at Federation University have taken unprecedented strike action today.

They’ve walked off the job for 24 hours demanding the University bargains more fairly.

NTEU Fed Uni Ballarat Branch President Matthew Abbott says they’re prepared to strike again if needed.
 
“We are talking about full strike action in all of these cases.”

“The business union members are on indefinite strike, they’re engaging in no work activities and that will be the case for all union members across all of our campuses,” Mr Abbott said.
 
“It’s pretty strong action but it sends a clear message that we’re prepared to take that action, and if changes don’t start being made this will happen again in the future.”
 
To support the strike action a rally was held this morning at the universities Mt Helen campus.
