The inaugural Ride Ballarat Community Loop is set to be held on Friday, with Ballarat’s newly created bike routes to be the centrepiece of the ride.
The family-friendly ride will feature two optional loops for riders to choose from:
- The 10km Lake Wendouree Loop, starting at the Ballarat Railway Station, including an anti-clockwise lap of Lake Wendouree, finishing in Sturt Street.
- The 5km City Loop, starting at the Ballarat Railway Station, including a short clockwise journey around Lake Wendouree also finishing in Sturt Street.
Both rides will have escorts from the Ballarat-Sebastopol Cycling Club.
“The whole idea of the day is for it to be a family-friendly activity that everybody can participate in,” said Cr Belinda Coates.
“The Ride Ballarat routes have been highlighted for a few weeks now, but this is the perfect way to get out and experience them.”
The AusCycling National Road Championships begin in Ballarat this Friday with the Criterium in the CBD.
