Coronavirus is not going anywhere in a hurry with Victorian cases jumping by 10% to more than 3300 last week.
Here in Ballarat 112 cases were recorded although it is feared the real number is far greater due to non-reporting.
Grampians Health Chief Strategy & Regions Officer Dr Rob Grenfell says the virus is still causing concerns.
“We routinely test all patients who come in, so we find people who probably didn’t know they had COVID.”
“On the other side we do still have some people that have been primarily admitted because of COVID across our facilities.”
“The other challenge we’ve got, because we screen particularly our staff in aged care, we continue to find staff members who have got COVID and they need to quarantine,” Dr. Grenfell said.
An average of 5 people per day passed away from COVID in Victoria in the last reporting period.
