As Ballarat’s eScooter trial nears an end, operator Neuron has made a change to where you can park them.
With some Scooters often parked across footpaths or strewn across nature strips, the company now says you’ll have to place them in dedicated parking areas.
However, Committee for Ballarat Chief Executive Officer Michael Poulton says he doesn’t agree with the move.
“I don’t think it’s the right call in terms of where we want to try and drive public education in and around the scooters.”
“The mandated spots simply restricts the capacity for people to access this as an alternate form of transport.”
“What we need to be able to do in a city that is growing, is look at ways we can become less reliant on our cars and look at other forms of mobility, eScooters are one of those things,” Mr. Poulton said.
The trial ends March 31.
