Clarendon College’s principal has been “exonerated” from shocking bullying claims, according to the school’s independent investigators.

It follows whistleblower allegations by former staff in early October of a toxic culture of racism, sexism and misogyny at the College spanning the last decade.

Up to a dozen former staff members allegedly corroborated the claims.

In early November, the Herald Sun reported the school refused to disclose who was leading the “external, independent investigation”.

In a letter sent to parents on Monday, the school’s board says interim findings of its investigation have cleared allegations against Principal David Shepherd, which centred around “a culture of ‘genuine misery’ stemming from a crippling workload and alleged bullying and humiliation.”

A separate, independent inquiry by WorkSafe is ongoing.

The Independent Education Union has also been conducting its own investigation.
