Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged carjacking in Wendouree earlier this week.
A 37-year-old Alfredton man has been charged with two counts of aggravated carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle and recklessly causing injury.
The charges relate to an incident where a man allegedly walked up to a parked vehicle in Gillies Street armed with a weapon, and demanded the driver get out of the car, about 1.40pm on Tuesday.
It is alleged he smashed the window of the vehicle, injuring the driver’s hand.
The driver got out of the car and managed to escape, before the man allegedly got into the vehicle and fled the scene.
The car was located a short time later on Ballarat-Daylesford Road in Dean, where the man was arrested.
He’s been remanded and will next appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in May.
