Following the popularity of two blockbuster movies, a local cinema has recorded their busiest week on record.
To date, Barbie has made over $700 million dollars worldwide, whilst Oppenheimer has made over $400 million, with Director of the Showbiz Group, which operates the Delacombe cinemas, Chris Jones, saying even during the week they’ve been exceptionally busy during those movie sessions.
Mr. Jones says with strong film releases, particularly with Barbie and Oppenheimer, it’s been a massive boost to their industry.
“Our week ending last Wednesday (the 26th) has been our busiest week on record, and we’ve been open now for six years,” he said.
“It’s a fantastic result for our business, but I guess the wider industry is relishing those good, strong box office numbers at the moment.”
