The Andrews Government will upgrade a local high school to the tune of nearly $9 million – IF re-elected.
Woodman Hill Secondary College in Ballarat East would be in line for a new dedicated space for Year 7s, an extension to the VCE centre and a refurbishment of the integrated learning building.
The stand alone 7-12 school services around 460 enrolled students.
Buninyong MP Michaela Settle says Woodmans is of importance due to its reach to rural and growing areas.
“Its zone goes right to Ballan. So all of those communities from Ballan in towards Ballarat they really deserve all the best education facilities as well. And, of course, Brown Hill…with all of that growth in Brown Hill it’s going to be really important.”
Settle confirms the $8.59 million is at this stage an election promise and not yet budgeted for.
“With all election commitments, they’re funded in the following year’s budget. So it’s not funded at this point, this is an election commitment.”
