Ballarat’s Road Nats needs volunteers

December 8, 2022 6:13 am in by

Volunteers across Ballarat are being sought for one of the region’s most prestigious events.

The National Road Cycling Championships will be here in January, and bodies are needed to man the tracks to help keep riders safe and the event flowing smoothly.

The Nats are on in the region from the 6th to the 10th, and organisers say they need 1000s of people to jump on board for one of the cycling calendar’s biggest weeks.

Road Rage co-ordinator Tony Davidson says it’s a great week for the 40 kids around the country he recruits to Ballarat every year.

“A – you’re front and centre for an internationally renowned event, but also B – just within the volunteers there’s a great spirit and great friendship.”

People of all ages are asked to sign up, and will be well taken care of as part of the crew with free lunch, hat, shirt, and sunscreen – and will be able to work to whatever ability they’re able.

“The organisers of the event go out of their way to look after, and to make sure everyone’s happy and gets a role that suits them” Davidson said.
