Ballarat’s animal facility falls further behind schedule

Ballarat’s long awaited Regional Animal Facility has fallen further behind schedule.

Planning for the new shelter started in 2021, with its construction scheduled to begin in early 2025.

However, a sod is yet to be turned.

Acting CEO for the City of Ballarat, Martin Darcy, says projects of this nature are complex.

“Tender processes are incredibly complicated. We have to make sure that we get it right in [its] specifications,” he said.

“If we don’t, you end up having long term consequences to deal with throughout the build.”
