Ballarat to get another major hospital IF Libs win the state election

A major health announcement has been made by the opposition for Ballarat today with a $200 million new hospital planned for Ballarat’s west.

The cash would be used to build the first stage of a Ballymanus Regional Hospital in Alfredton, as a sister campus to the Ballarat Base Hospital.

It would have 100 beds, an urgent care centre, general surgical facilities as well as a day surgery centre.

Liberal candidate for Eureka Paul Tatchell says it’s needed for the region, not just Ballarat.

“We seem to be a little bit city centric on our trains and we seem to be a little bit city centric on our roads and bridges,” Mr Tatchell said.

“The two main things in this area are our roads and health system, and the fact is that the only queue that parallels the hospital at the moment is the one of failed health ministers.”
