Ballarat SES rationing out sandbags to help prepare for deluge

Central Victorians are being warned to be on flood watch as another rain bomb approaches.

From tomorrow night and into Thursday Ballarat will cop up to 90 mils of rain, while areas around Woodend could see up to 100 millimetres.

Meteorologist Matthew Thomas says flooding is expected, with Central and Northern river levels set to rise.

“We might see some rivers…the Loddon and Avoca which are already at moderate (flooding)…they could go to major.”

Crews at the Ballarat SES Headquarters on Gilles Street South will be rationing out sandbags to the general public tonight (Tuesday) between 7.30 and 8.30pm.
