Ballarat police investigating attempted armed robbery

Ballarat police are investigating an attempted armed robbery in the city last week.

It’s alleged on the morning of July 29, two 14-year-old boys were approached by a man at the intersection of Sturt and Lyons Street.

Police have been told the man, who was armed with a knife, made a demand for items that belonged to the boys.

Both did not hand over any items, with the man last seen walking down Dana Street.

Investigators have identified a person of interest and are calling on anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
