Ballarat’s Federal Member has defended Melbourne’s controversial Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) saying it stacks up.
Speaking in parliament today, the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport said it will also benefit regional Victorian’s.

“We know that the Suburban Rail Loop will transform our suburbs and that regional Victorian’s will benefit from it as well.”
“The detailed business and investment case for the SRL released by Victoria last year, demonstrated that a benefit cost ratio of up to $1.70 would be returned for every dollar invested,” Ms King said.

The first two stages of the project have blown out to cost $125 billion, with Liberal leader Matthew Guy saying he’ll scrap the project if elected and put the money into health.
