Ballarat high jump sensation soars at the World Championships, says he can go higher

High flying Ballarat high jumper Yual Reath has powered his way into the final at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

He jumped a season best of 2.25m to qualify for what will be his first final, tomorrow night at 9.35pm AEST.

Reath says he’s still a little rusty but is eyeing off a 2.30m jump.

Meantime, Ballarat sprinter Cooper Sherman has produced a solid performance at his first World Athletics Championships.

He ran the 400 metre individual in a time of 45.53 whish was just shy of his PB, coming 7th.

Next up for ‘The Sherminator’, hopefully a run with the 4x400m relay team on Saturday.
