A Ballarat businessman who is already the most successful driver in the history of the Australian National Drag Racing Association, is this weekend aiming to take out a 9th national championship in the sportsman category.

Craig Geddes, who’ll be travelling at over 300Kph in his dragster, holds a narrow points lead over 19-year-old WA local Madison Brown.

Craig says his success begun through a love of cars in his hometown.

“Like most young guys we had our street cars and were putting fat tyres on them, modifying them and racing them out at the Ballarat airport drag races.”

“But very quickly I realised I’d like to transition into proper competition.”

“Being a fitter and turner, I did my apprenticeship down at Eureka Valves in Sebastopol, I could make a lot of the things myself,” Mr. Geddes said.

The final round of the series will be held at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday and Sunday.
