The Ballarat Council have voted in favour of a controversial new tailings dam at the Mount Clear gold mine.
At the ordinary council meeting last night, six councillors voted in favour of the motion in a division, and three voted against.
Several residents’ submissions, both in favour and against the new project, were heard by council members – with risks to health and its closeness to residential areas common concerns.
