Thousands of dollars have been raised this week at a Commerce Ballarat Biznet Breakfast with the money going to the Ballarat Christmas Appeal, which this year celebrates its 45th anniversary.
The initiative started in 1980 as the 3BA Christmas Appeal but is now managed by the Ballarat Foundation and backed by the radio station.
Ballarat Foundation Chair, Ellen Jackson, who spoke at the event, says demand for support is showing no sign of letting up.
“Unfortunately, the demand for services and support that we are seeing through our partner welfare agencies is continuing to grow.”
“We’re seeing additional required support for homelessness and women over the age of 55, but also just families in terms of food security and other forms of charitable support,” Mrs. Jackson said.
