The Werribee River at Ballan remains under siege as it threatens to once again reach minor flood level.
While the river level at Ballan is currently steady residents are on stay informed orders with forecast rain in the coming days likely to cause it to further rise.
Vic Emergency has advised rainfall totals of 5-20 millimetres and the potential for more isolated thunderstorms are forecast for the catchment on Wednesday, while between Thursday and Sunday a potential 40 millimetres of rain will fall in the area.
The Werribee River reached minor flood level on Monday night before steadying.
The alert comes on the back of peak hour havoc for commuters between Ballarat and Melbourne where Tuesday afternoon travellers felt the full force of sudden isolated downpours.
The Ballarat-bound lanes of the Western Freeway closed in the late afternoon following a landslip near Pentland Hills Road.
Local detours produced further headaches with steep terrain unsuitable for all vehicles, with trucks advised to travel through Geelong rather than attempt to travel on potentially unstable roads.
Vic Roads worked to clear the debris and reopened the road within hours.
