Animal adoptions have recommenced at the Ballarat Animal Shelter today, following a parvovirus outbreak.
Last week, a case was confirmed by council, with two suspected cases later testing negative.
Central Ward councillor, Samantha McIntosh, says the important message for the community is it’s a very dangerous virus.
“It’s one that you don’t want your beautiful little pets to attract, and certainly little puppies [are] more challenged by it,” she said.
The shelter says due to the deep clean, it’s in need of towels, blankets and toys to support their furry friends, with donations welcome.
Council says their incredible team have done an amazing job containing the outbreak.
