A massive day is set for Ballarat with two big games to celebrate AFLW Pride Round.
The Western Bulldogs will take to their adopted home ground of Mars Stadium to take on St. Kilda for the round that aims to promote and support diversity and inclusion of LGBTQI+ communities and families.
The Bulldogs’ Pride guernsey has been designed by members of the AFLW playing group in consultation with the Bulldog Pride supporter group; it reflects the transgender flag with the traditional red, white and blue hoops swapped out for pastel blue, white and pink.
The rainbow progress pride flag is also featured across the top back panel of the guernsey.
Before the Saints and Bulldogs kick off at 1.10pm, a curtain opener will be played by two Central Victorian teams.
Castlemaine’s Mt Alexander Falcons will go up against the Kyneton Tigers at Mars on Saturday morning.
The sides were invited to the play in the AFLW opener in recognition of their dedication to providing an inclusive environment for women and female identifying players and a safe space to play footy.
