A Hundred Years of Honey, Friendship and Imagination: BCMA Celebrates Winnie the Pooh’s 100th Anniversary with a Delightful Junior Production
This year marks a very special milestone for one of the world’s most beloved childhood characters, with the original Winnie the Pooh book celebrating its 100th anniversary.
To celebrate a century of friendship, adventure and imagination, the Ballarat Centre of Music & the Arts (BCMA) is bringing the magic of the Hundred Acre Wood to life with its charming production of Winnie the Pooh Kids, presented by it’s youngest cohorts of Musical Theatre performers who are aged jut 6 – 12 years of age but who are presenting a very professional show with extraordinary talent.
Perfectly timed to introduce a new generation to the timeless stories of Pooh Bear and his friends, this delightful 30-minute production is a wonderful first theatre experience for younger audiences.
Filled with heart, humour and plenty of honey, Winnie the Pooh Kids showcases the incredible talents of BCMA’s youngest performers as they step onto the stage and share their love of storytelling and performance.
Audiences will be invited to join Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Rabbit and friends as they celebrate the simple joys of friendship, kindness and adventure that have made these characters treasured favourites for generations.
BCMA Director Paula Heenan said the production was a wonderful opportunity for young performers to experience the excitement of live theatre in a supportive and encouraging environment. “Introducing children to the magic of performing arts is something we are incredibly passionate about at BCMA.
For many of our youngest performers, this will be their first time on stage, and it is such a special moment for them, their families and our wider community,” Ms Heenan said. “Having this production coincide with the 100th anniversary of the first Winnie the Pooh book makes it even more meaningful.

The short running time makes this production the perfect introduction to live theatre for preschool and primary-aged children, while still capturing all the warmth and wonder that families love about Winnie the Pooh.

Written by Winnie-the-Pooh by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard, it was first published on 14 October 1926 by Methuen & Co. in London.
That means 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the original book’s publication, making BCMA’s Winnie the Pooh Kids production a wonderful celebration of a century of Pooh, friendship, imagination and childhood wonder.
