SECRET SCOTS BUSINESS?
Wondering what happens in Daylesford on the first Saturday in December?… The secret is out!
We start the day by waking to the sound of 300 bagpipes and drums, with as many as 20 Pipe Bands competing in the Pipe Band Street March on Vincent Street from 9am.
This year they’ll be lead by a huge contingent of fluffy friends from the Scottish Terrier Club of Vic, Hi Paws Rough Collies and the West Highland White Terriers of Vic opening the parade.
Up at Victoria Park our day continues with full program celebrating Scottish culture.
From 9.30am the heats for the Victorian Highland Dance Championships will kick off, along with the first of the Highland Games events with a full program soon to be announced.
Think caber tossing and hammer throw!
At 11am the Daylesford Pipe Band Competition will continue along with our new addition this year Barwon Academy of arm’s Scathach Challenge.
This will also see the first of our Highland Dogs Arena displays with all of the above dog clubs representing.
With opportunities for a Q&A and brush & cuddle!!!
Lilie á Ghlinne are bringing back their gorgeous Highland cattle.
These cuties were a huge hit last year, we almost had to pat down our patrons to make sure they didn’t steal one!
The Clans are coming too!
With a new area under our beautiful trees for our much-loved clan tents, take the opportunity to learn more about your Scottish heritage, and sign up to keep these wonderful organisations alive and thriving.
You won’t go hungry!
After the success of last year we learnt that all this Scottish business gives you an appetite so we’ve boosted our offerings with Mowatts Scottish Produce returning with our local faves Jinkys Burgers, The Hungry Wombats hot roast rolls and Greek donuts, Trentham Hot Spuds, Timboon Ice Cream while the Daylesford Football & Netball Club will be firing up the community sausage sizzle and more deliciousness from their canteen!
Thirsty?
Hepburn Springs Brewery will be back, along with Scottish whisky tastings from The Whisky Company and our Aussie friends at Timboon Railway Shed Distillery.
The Kids will be happy too, after seeing the cattle and dogs we’ll keep them busy with a straw bale maze, face painting, sword agility challenge from Barwon academy and a tug-a-war rope just begging for a kids vs parents match up!!!
Once you’ve finished shopping your way through the Celtic and Community market we’ll finish out the day with Massed Bands marching across Victoria Park!
So join us December 6th for an awesome day out with friends and family.
