The Grampians boss of the Department of Transport and Planning says Ballarat & district has fared well in the state governments recently announced, ‘Better Roads Blitz’.

$976 million has been committed, in what Spring Street says is the largest single-year investment in road maintenance in the state’s history.

“It’s a great outcome, now we’ve just got to get on and deliver the work,” said Michael Bailey.

“For Ballarat, it’ll be pretty intense, there’ll be a lot of disruption, but it’s a great story to tell.”

“We’re going to fix sections of the Western Highway, the Midland Highway, the Glenelg Highway, Sunraysia Highway, Ballarat-Burrumbeet Road plus we’ve already started work at Meredith, so plenty going on for us.”

The blitz will see works take place from now up until mid-2026 with 70% of all the funding going towards regional roads.
