Potholes on the Western Highway have led to a conga line of drivers suffering flat tyres and damaged wheels over the weekend.

Driver Greg McIntosh, the husband of Ballarat councillor Samantha McIntosh, reports the front right-hand tyres of at least four cars were flat 10 kilometres outside of Beaufort on Sunday.

“It’s quite ludicrous really, when we had the National Bush Summit with all the great leaders in town on Friday.”

“We’ve got these big tunnels getting done in Melbourne, money spent on suburban rail loops, yet we’ve got people standing next to the side of their cars on a busy highway because of major potholes,” Mr. McIntosh said.

The Grampians boss of the Department of Transport, Michael Bailey, says the damage to that section of the road was caused by the severe storms on Friday night and it is being fixed.
