Ballarat’s best football umpires will be on show from this weekend, as finals season ramps up.
Redan takes on rival Darley in the Ballarat Football League Women’s Grand Final at City Oval.
It’s also the first week of the Central Highlands League finals and Ballarat Football League junior boys.

Head of the Ballarat Football Umpires Association, Chris Jones, says umpires aspire to blow the whistle in big games.
“We’re all very aspirational like any footballer would be or any sportsperson at all,” he said.
“We set ourselves goals throughout the season, we train hard, we work hard, we want to do our best throughout the year, and the ultimate reward is to get appointed to a grand final.”
