The long-awaited Environment Effects Statement (EES) on the controversial Western Renewables Link (WRL) is about to be released to the public.
It’ll be available from June 30th for 40 business days and during the exhibition period community members and landowners will be able to review it and make a submission.
Anyone making a submission may also request to be heard at the independent inquiry that follows.
Gerard Carew, AusNet General Manager, Major Projects and lead for the Western Renewables Link, said the EES exhibition will be significant for landholders and local communities.
“While the project has been in the planning stage, we have undertaken a wide range of studies along the proposed route. We are pleased to announce we are now ready to exhibit those findings,” he said.
The WRL is a proposed 190 kilometre high-voltage electricity transmission line that will carry renewable energy from near Bulgana in western Victoria to Sydenham in Melbourne’s north-west.
Some primary producers fear it will destroy prime farmland.
