Wednesday marked ten years since the Loud Fence initiative in Ballarat began, remembering the victim survivors of child sexual abuse in the community.
In 2015, ribbons were tied to the front fence of the St. Alipius Christian Brothers School as a sign of support for abuse survivors, with the movement growing across the city and Australia.
Founder of the Loud Fence, Maureen Hatcher, has thanked every victim survivor that have trusted her with their story over the last ten years.
“Some of those people I didn’t even know ten years ago and now they’re friends for life,” she said.
“I just really want to give it back to the victim-survivors who have been so amazing through all of this, so thank you.”
