Thousands have taken part in the second annual Ballarat Marathon over the weekend.
Over 9,000 people registered for events, almost doubling last year’s numbers, with around 80 per cent of them visitors to the city.
Reece Edwards was the marathon men’s winner with a time of 2 hours and sixteen minutes, with Kate Mason taking home first place in the women’s marathon race with a time of 2 hours and 33 minutes.
In the non-binary category, Rayne Holland was first place with a time of 2 hours and 39 minutes.
It’s expected the marathon will inject over $3 million into the Ballarat economy, with the event now the fourth biggest marathon race in Australia, behind Sydney, the Gold Coast and Melbourne.
