Well it seems that the rise of the machines is here sadly, thanks to companies replacing humans with robots, and it's only going to get worse.
And it looks like banks are next in line to remove us from the workforce.
It's just been announced that Citigroup (investment bank) is making plans to automate 10,000 jobs in the next five years, thus eliminating around half of its 20,000 technology and operations jobs.
But maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel because the bank did say that it would hire in other areas like the sales and research delartments, OH YAY!
Get this... from 2007 to 2017 alone, there was around 60,000 jobs (shall we say) deleted from eight of the world’s top 10 investment banks, not only that, over in Switzerland, one bank replaced 7 staff members with 5 robots, and they didn't stop there, the bank was so happy with these new robots (who do the same work as humans and worked 24/7 with no breaks) that they put more on.
And the most frightening thing of all, a report conducted last year found that around 800 million workers could be replaced by machines in just 13 years.
If you have never seen Astro Boy (from the 80's), do, because it's all about robots taking over the workforce and humans fighting them.
Also check out Terminator, seriously, we are allowing machines to take over and who knows what A.I.will do next.
