A Kyneton Bakery Serves Up Australia’s Best Pie

Australia’s best pie has been named, and it’s just an hour out of Ballarat.

For the second year running, the Country Cob Bakery in Kyneton has taken out the top award. 12 judges from the Baking Association of Australia gave Country Cob’s Gluten Free Caramelised Pork and Pepper Pie the special accolade. Country Cob Bakery also took out the same prize last year with their Satay Seafood Pie.

The 12 judges were tasked with downing more than 1700 pastries over 3 days in order to crown a winner. Check out the full list of best in class winners below:

Beef Flavoured Pie: Edison Bakehouse — steak & pepper

Poultry Pie: Four Seasons Patisserie Bakery — satay chicken

Gourmet Pie: Country Cob Bakery — caramelised pork & pepper

Gluten Free Pie: Jo Jo’s Gluten Free — Thai red curry

Traditional Pastie: Orange Spot — pastie

Gourmet Pastie: Orange Spot — three peppered pastie

Vegetarian Pastie: Finley Bakery & Patisserie — vegetarian pastie

Gluten Free Pastie: Jo Jo’s Gluten Free — roasted vegetable pastie
