As 2019 winds to a close, it's time to look back at some of the big trends over the past decade, and overnight Spotify released its most streamed songs and artists since 2010.

There aren't many surprises on these lists. It was a decade dominated by big personalities and big hip hop beats. The pace of music slowed down and became more experiemental, and more than ever the internet was leading the way on what we listened to. So without further ado, here we go.

  1. Drake
  2. Ed Sheeran
  3. Post Malone

If we look at Spotify's top streamers from this year too, you'll notice a lot of the same names popping up. This is probably the reason why: at the start of the decade Spotify had around 7 million users. In 2019 that's jumped to 248 million.
