Smashing Pumpkins and Hanson team up for a Fleetwood Mac cover, and it actually works

Mark this one down as one of the more unexpected collaborations of 2018.

At a gig earlier this week in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Smashing Pumpkins decided to team up with some other 90s heavyweights for a rendition of Fleetwood Mac's 'Landslide' - the MMMBoppers themselves, Hanson.

Okay, so on the surface there's very little these two bands have in common. Both bands were three pieces, who loved guitar rock and at one stage had a thing for long hair. That seems to be about it. And it's that seeming lack of common interests which makes this rendition so much more amazing.

(Just for clarity: Billy Corgan at the start of this clip is chatting to Pumpkins' guitarist James Iha, and it's Iha who welcomes the band on stage. )

The Pumpkins, of course, first covered 'Landslide' on the 'Pisces Iscariot' B-sides album back in '94, when Zac Hanson was only nine years old. Let's hope this is just the start of more collaborations from The Smashing Hansons (that band name might need some work...).
