How do you feel about Ballarat "leaving'" Victoria and joining a new state in Australia? Well that's what one Victorian MP has proposed.
Liberal Democrats MP for Northern Victoria Tim Quilty has put forward his desire to create a new “super state” comprising regional parts of Victoria and NSW.
The idea was thrown about just last Friday (December 4), even though it was first raised by Tim back in 2018.
He believes the new state would help curb the social and economic divide between people living in regional areas and cities.
So basically he wants Ballarat along with Bendigo, Mildura, Wodonga, Shepparton, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Orange, Bathurst, Griffith, Riverina, Murray, North West, Hume, Lachlan Valley, Young – Yass, Goulburn – Mulwaree and Lithgow to all be in this new state.
So this story started to gain momentum today. We didn't quite expect it to take off yet - we were planning on starting...

The move has been dubbed “Rexit”, which means “regional exit”.
Wonder what the name of our new state would be called?
New South Vic?
Victor Wales?
